Xilinx and Aquantia extend capabilities of existing copper cabling infrastructure

SAN JOSE, USA: Xilinx Inc. and Aquantia, the market leader of high-speed Ethernet connectivity solutions, are extending the capabilities of existing copper cabling infrastructure for data center, mobile, enterprise and video applications.

Aquantia’s recently announced AQrate product line enables 5 times higher throughput than current Gigabit Ethernet (GE) solutions without requiring any change to the copper cabling infrastructure.  This technology allows the next generation of 2D/3D TORUS networks, 802.11ac Wireless LAN Access Points (APs), enterprise switches and client devices to operate at unprecedented speeds.

Together with Xilinx’s All Programmable FPGA and IP portfolios, the AQrate technology addresses mobile infrastructure bottlenecks and enables a disruptive set of solutions across a broad range of applications.

“Our collaborative efforts ensure that Xilinx FPGAs and IP interoperate seamlessly with Aquantia’s industry leading AQrate technology features to deliver new and innovative solutions to the market,” said Kamal Dalmia, VP of sales and marketing at Aquantia.

“The programmable capabilities of Xilinx devices and IP enable the immediate implementation of solutions leveraging Aquantia’s AQrate technology to transmit Ethernet data at 2.5 and 5 Gigabit/s (2.5GbE and 5GbE) over up to 100 meters of Cat 5e cables,” said Hemant Dhulla, VP of wired communications and data center business at Xilinx.

“These new capabilities further expand the solutions that Xilinx can offer in these market segments, while leveraging our industry leading 7 series and Ultrascale™ device families.”
